Asia : Malaysian Borneo - Sabah page 1 of 10

Sabah, the "Land Below the Wind", offers astonishing variety. From white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and beautiful coral islands (some of which are the world's top diving locations), to pristine rainforests and wildlife, up to the granite summit of Mount Kinabalu (4095m), South East Asia's highest mountain, Sabah is truly amazing! Despite its unique attractions and well-developed tourism infrastructure, Sabah has only recently become known to discerning travellers.

Without a doubt, Sabah has much to offer. Visitors can watch orang utans in a rainforest sanctuary, see giant sea turtles come ashore to lay eggs, go white water rafting, snorkel or scuba dive over reefs, explore a cave where edible birds' nests have been gathered for centuries, travel by boat through Malaysia's largest wetlands area to view Borneo's unique proboscis monkey - all this within a couple of hours or less of an airport and luxurious accommodation. I visited Sabah during November 2004.

We stayed our first 3-nights at the luxurious Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort in Kota Kinabalu

Our favourite place - Coco Joes (excellent food!)

The resort overlooks the South China Sea and is only 10-minutes from Kota Kinabalu city centre.
