Days 3 – 5 ~ Temples Of Angkor And Lake Tonle Sap
We flew to Siem Reap, gateway to the monumental temples of Angkor and launching point for our afternoon cruise on vast Tonle Sap Lake with its floating villages. Before sunset, we entered the Angkor complex for stunning temple views.

The next day we rose early to witness sunrise over the world’s largest sacred building and architectural masterpiece, Angkor Wat. We began our exploration of the other main temples of Angkor & visited the fortified city of Angkor Thom and the huge central towers of the Bayon.

Pedalled rickshaws, called cyclos, still ply the streets as in colonial days and provide an excellent opportunity for sightseeing.

The town of Siem Reap, the provincial capital, is a pleasant sleepy backwater serving as a base for visitors to the ancient capital of Angkor.

We took to the water in Siem Reap, on beautiful Lake Tonle Sap.
We cruised on the enormous lake, visiting floating villages complete with schools, restaurants and even a hospital

Angkor is without doubt one of the most breathtaking architectural masterpieces left standing in the world today.
